XWARN will again be hosting Field Day operations at Beavercreek Township Fire Station 61, 2195 Dayton Xenia Road, Beavercreek, OH 45434 on June 27-28. This station is co-located with the Beavercreek Township Emergency Operations Center. The club uses the W8XRN repeater for talk-in communications on 147.165 MHz, positive offset, PL Tone 123.0. Station setup typically starts around 0900 to prepare for operations to begin at 2:00 PM (1800 Z). The club hosts a carry-in picnic for dinner on Saturday. The club will continue operations overnight and wrap up around 2:00 PM Sunday when the 24 hours is complete.
The club will host a Get On The Air station to allow amateur operators an opportunity to use one of our HF stations. Those without an amateur license are also invited to experience radio communications with one of our licensed control operators. Amateur radio has no age limit; everyone is welcomed to try it out and learn more about getting a license.
